How can I start this blog today about Shelley & Kevin, my incredible good looking, great caring and wonderful clients that I am still today in awe so very happy to have had the honor and privilege to capture their magical day.
I remember back in August of the last year 2015, having a phone conversation with Shelley who at that time made it very clear that a wedding photographer was the most important vendor for her. She had many questions and a huge concern because she had a huge bridal party of 18 and 5 kids, she asked me if that amount of people scared me, I think she meant overwhelming? Ha, ha My reply was actually the more the better. It was just only 3 days later when I got the reply email from her that everyone was on board in giving me this great opportunity. Moving forward towards the wedding day, in early May of 2016, when Shelley & Kevin and I had a phone conference, as to getting to know Kevin, and in designing the perfect timeline for their wedding day that included pre-wedding photos, first look, and the amazing family photos, that required going to many different locations of Palmetto Dunes. Because of this great timeline and the time we took to do it, everything on their wedding day was perfect and I may add on time. My day started early with Kevin and the groomsmen true Kentucky men, great guys. Kevin was very happy receiving a gift from Shelley a Burberry Swiss Chronograph Timepiece. I then made my way to the gorgeous house that Shelley and her parents rented, where the bridesmaids and the children stayed, we took many great photos that lead to Shelley getting a gift from Kevin a Diamond teardrop necklace. We then had the first look on the amazing bridge, that took us to family photos with rich greenery, that led to the incredibly beautiful beach ceremony at Palmetto Dunes House, then bridal party photos with the spectacular couple and then the soiree reception at The Centre Court. A truly magical day for everyone.
As a wedding photographer if you are a future client looking at this blog, I want you to pay attention to many things portrayed in the wedding images, the story, the capture of it all, the details, the bridal party, the amazing family photos that are so fabulous, the children, their emotions, the parents, I could go on and on, my desire for every wedding and the way of concluding this blog is very simple, I live by this business and artistic principles, it is always an honor to capture your wedding. I realize you are making a huge investment, and I want you all to have the wow factor when you see your wedding images I have captured because too many times I hear these two statements that mean so much to me. 1) The day went by so fast, I can hardly remember everything and you captured it perfectly. 2) my wedding was only one day and you made very sure I saw it through your artistic eyes, you never missed a beat or a moment. That makes my heart right and is my only goal…! Thank you, great clients, for the business, honor the amazing Wedding Wire Review and always God Bless, may you all may you live the perfect life.
A little story in their words about how this day became the bride and groom:
Kevin and I met through a mutual friend while out in Louisville, Kentucky celebrating a Kentucky Basketball win. After getting to know each other a little (as much as you can while out) and exchanging numbers, Kevin asked me out for an official date just a few days later. Whether we went out for lunch or dinner was based on a “bet” Kevin made with me. Knowing that we were both big Kentucky fans, he bet that if the UK won the game the next Monday night, he would take me to dinner. He already knew the odds were in his favor and ended up with a dinner date. We shared all about ourselves over dinner and were having such a great time we decided to continue the date with a few drinks after. We quickly learned that a love for Kentucky sports was not all we had in common. Traveling, going to the lake, and being at the beach are just a few amongst the many things we found. Kevin was persistent with asking me out but knew I was very busy. I was in Pharmacy school and had an extremely busy schedule when we met, but I knew there was something special about this guy and did everything I could to make my schedule work to see him. It didn’t take long to introduce each other to our friends, and families weren’t too far to follow. When I met Kevin’s family, I could see the love he had for all of them and how much they reminded me of my own family. We both knew this was something special.
Fast forward and after a few trips together, our love for traveling lead us to planning our first Europe trip together. Being the planners we are, we had every detail of each day planned out in Paris, Florence, Positano, and Rome. As I talked about our trip to friends, they all had their theories of the proposal plan he had in each city. Everything from the lock bridge or Eiffel tower in Paris to the Spanish Steps in Rome. About three months before our trip I walked into Kevin’s house for what I thought was an ordinary Friday night. Being anything but predictable, Kevin had planned the perfect proposal months before everyone thought it was coming. Being from different cities, we knew we wanted a destination wedding and something none of our friends had done. This lead us to our long search for the perfect destination. After much consideration, Hilton Head won and Palmetto Dunes had everything we wanted. The one thing I wanted out of our wedding was amazing photos, which is why we chose Michel Berda of King Street Photo Weddings. He provided wonderful service through the entire process and we are so excited to share his work with our family and friends. We vowed our love for one another on June 3, 2016. It’s an amazing feeling to know you get to spend the rest of your life with your best friend and we are both so excited to see what adventures our future holds.
