Waterfront Park, here in Charleston, Sc, is the most visited park by visitors, locals, and mostly our engagement, wedding photographers. This park is full of many opportunities for great photography. Waterfront Park is a twelve-acre park of the Cooper River. In 2007 the park received the Landmark Award from the American Society of Landscape Architect. The Park features a Boardwalk, the very famous pineapple fountain, and the water fountain that everyone enjoys, and miles of greenery including a row of amazing palm trees. When I am commissioned and a request or a suggestion from me is made to my clients to capture an engagement session in this beautiful park, I always try to create a more artistic engagement image because so many of us engagement photographers photograph engagement here. As for this engagement image, sure I could have exposed it for my couple and blown out the background or created a fill flash, but that was not the mood in engagement photography I was looking to capture. Instead, I chose to let your eyes imagine how much Water Front Park, here in Charleston, Sc, has to offer, by creating a silhouette that is so well exposed you can still see the deep blue sky and clouds, with the palm trees in the background, and by having the negative space reflect that. I love this image and sometimes a perfectly exposed image is not what your clients are looking for. Most of my clients hire me to be more creative and create amazing engagement photos just like this.
