Today I bring you an Autumn wedding and my wedding photography talent for one of the nicest wedding couples that I have had the privilege and honor to capture at the Harbour Club Deanna & Robert. First a shout out to Nina Jakubowski, another treasure for Charleston, SC a great mom and the private events director for Harbour Club. They say that here in Charleston, SC, if you have a business the only way you will succeed, is by word of mouth. Well yes, that is very true. Why the lovely Nina referred these clients to me and to other preferred wedding photographers they have on their list. Back in May, I received a call from the groom Robert which is quite unusual, as I explained to him only about 2 to 6% of the grooms actually call to find out about our wedding photography business and the service we provide. The phone conference went well he did mention that he was so very surprised on how I was the only one of 8 other photographers that actually picked up the phone right away. I replied it is very hard to find a full-time wedding photographer (only) in Charleston, SC.
2 days later back on May 13th, 2018, I get another email and a call to book my wedding photography for their wedding day. Robert explains to me that they live in Florida, and what attracted them to my wedding photography besides the great referral was the way I capture weddings to embody this beautiful city, besides having a huge knowledge and the fact that I have been living in our Holy City of Charleston, SC for over 26 years, and photographing weddings for now 19 years was huge in their decisions.
The next step was having a phone conference to plan out the best way for them to have all of the wedding images they were looking for me to capture within the agreed time. I also had the pleasure of meeting with them in person and doing a walkthrough to explain the various locations and how we would implement those locations in the wedding photography timeline. I must say Deanna was so proud of her man because as she stated to me WOW your really know your clients and how to capture weddings.
Well their special day came, I showed up 2.5 hours early, I was able to get amazing pre-photos, the wedding day went perfectly, I also included in the timeline sunset photos (my favorite) where the clients are willing to invest their time to let me do what I do best explore, capture, create, and light perfectly amazing wedding couple images. Now here from the bride and groom on how this day became;
Robert and I met in 2011 while attending our master’s program in Physician Assistant studies in Tampa, FL. Robert was born in New York but raised in Florida and Deanna was born and raised in southern Illinois near St. Louis, MO. We became study partners which soon blossomed into a romantic relationship after spending a lot of time together throughout the program. 5 years later, we moved to Fort Lauderdale, and he proposed on a sunset airboat tour in the Everglades. During our wedding planning, we discussed taking a vacation to Charleston, SC and figured “why not get married there!?” We liked the low country charming style that Charleston offered. We are big foodies, love to golf, and loved the history of the small city. It was a perfect destination for our wedding!
